The March 2013 chapter meeting featured a cultural presentation by Zora Bravenec entitled, "Great Moravia and Its Two Learned Missionaries Konstantin and Metod." Zora was born in Czechoslovakia and graduated from Comenius University in Bratislava in 1966 with a major in English, Slovak, and Czech languages. She received a doctor’s degree in education in 1981 and worked teaching English as a second language. In 1987, she was appointed to a position of a visiting lecturer in Czechoslovak studies at Oxford University and Sheffield University in the United Kingdom. At Oxford, she met her now husband Lorence, and five years later they were married and came to live in Texas where she began work at the English Language Institute of Texas A&M University teaching English to international students. She is retired, enjoys living in Texas, but prefers the cooler summers in Slovakia over the heat in Texas.
